Which Type of Grass is Used to Make Mats?

In golf clubs, keeping grassed areas in good condition through out the Winter can be a real challenge. Fortunately, there are a few products out there designed to make getting through the Winter period a little easier! One of these products is Grass Mats. These are 1 meter wide, 1.5 meters in length and have the primary use of stopping ground from becoming churned up and muddy. Once the grass has grown through these 23mm thick rubber mats they become virtually invisible, providing a hidden surface which sits above the mud stopping it becoming churned up by pedestrian use. The ease of installation is one of the biggest selling points for this product. Simply peg it in to the ground and cable tie it to the adjoining mat; no need for any complicated ground works! In golf clubs these mats are commonly used for footpaths, buggy paths, or even behind the bar as an anti-slip surface.

Another product which is out there is ground stabilizing mesh. This comes in several grades which are often referred to as type A, B or C mesh, type A mesh being the lightest grade and type C the heaviest. There is a multitude of uses for this meshing including laying it down for footpaths, buggy paths, temporary car parking, permanent car parking or even using it as a windbreak. The type A mesh is most commonly used as an underlay for grass mats (see above) helping to provide some extra ground stability and stopping the mats from sinking in to particularly boggy ground. Generally coming on rolls of 2 meters by 30 meters this mesh offers excellent value for money!

Type B mesh is probably the most popular grade of mesh out there. It provides a lot of the benefits of the thicker grades of mesh at a much lower price. If its ground protection for pedestrianized grassed areas, footpaths, wheelchair access or even light golf buggy use then Type B mesh is for you. This lightweight, polyethylene mesh provides great stability and only continues to become stronger with time as the grass intertwines with it to form a strong, stable surface suitable for areas of heavy pedestrian traffic or even light vehicular use. Much like A Mesh, this comes in 2 meter wide rolls which are 30m in length. The variety of things that this mesh can be used for, coupled with its extremely reasonable sale price, makes it one of the best universal meshes out there.

That said, if its true unprecedented protection you are looking for then Type C mesh is still the right option. This grade of mesh is much thicker than the other meshes that have been discussed and is capable of providing protection in much more extreme circumstances! It is commonly used for temporary or permanent car parking fixtures. The Rubber Grass Mat is our most versatile product with a multitude of uses in home and commercial environments. Rubber Grass Mats are designed to protect the ground and grass from becoming churned up and muddy; the ring-hole form allows grass to grow back through the mat, preserving the green and fresh look of your lawn! They are extremely easy to install using our pegs and cable ties; just fix into the ground using the pegs and attach each mat using the cable ties.

Just because they are called grass mat, it does not mean they have to be used on your lawn! Our Rubber Grass Mats provide an excellent anti-slip surface, ideal for use in shops, bars, or cellars. The thick rubber also works as an excellent safety surfacing for children play areas; for more information, please see our Playground Safety Grass Mats. Our Rubber Grass Mats are manufactured to the highest quality and standards using 30% recycled rubber. We inspect each item before shipping to ensure that you receive only the best, and most effective, ground protection products.
